Product colour swatches

  1. Go to Products
    In your Shopify dashboard, click Products and select an existing product or create a new one.
  2. Add Product Details
    Add your product title, description, images, and any size variants if needed.
  3. Choose a Product Category
    Under Category, select the most relevant product category (for example: Apparel & Accessories).
  4. Add a Colour Variant
    Scroll to Variants and click Add another option.
    Name the option Colour or Color. 

    (If you named the option something else like Shade, Tone, Hue, Colorway, or even Colour with a trailing space, it won't be detected as a colour option and will render as text.)

  5. Create Your Colours
    Click Add colour, enter the colour name (eg. Stone), then choose the matching colour using the colour picker.
  6. Select a Base Colour
    Choose a base colour such as Beige or Brown. This helps improve storefront filtering and search.
  7. Save Your Product
    Click Save. Your colour swatches should now appear on the product page.
  8. Edit Colours Later (Optional)
    You can update or add more colours anytime by going to Content → Metaobjects.
